Czech Republic: Prague – U Páva (Accommodation Review)

For our stay in Prague we wanted to stay close to city centre as we planned to walk everywhere. After looking around on hotel booking websites I decided to book a room at U Páva – which means ‘At the Peacock’ in Czech. The hotel is ideally placed to explore the surrounding markets, museums and historic buildings of Mala Strana, but it’s also just a 15-minute stroll across the bridge to the Old Town. It is only a 10-minute walk to Prague Castle.

Oregon: Takilma / Cave Junction – Out’n’About Treesort (Review)

It was an opportunistic stop a Out’n’About Treesort that resulted in us moving to Oregon nearly 10 years ago. It was here that we picked up a leaflet for the Oregon Shakespeare festival. I called and purchased tickets and off we went to Ashland for a couple of days. We fell in love with Ashland and Oregon and decided this was where we were going to stay once we’d finished our year long family road trip around America.

Italy: Rome – One bedroom apartment in Monti district (Accommodation Review)

For our stay in I had organised for us to stay in a one-bedroom apartment in Rome’s trendy Monti district, which I booked through AirBnb.

Centrally located, Monti is a short walk from the Colosseum and Piazza Venezia. It’s possible to walk almost anywhere from here. It was also close to several metro stations and the central train station – plus plenty of shops and good restaurants.

Oregon: Portland – Travelers House Hostel (Accommodation Review)

As my life is changing we have been traveling mostly now for pleasure and hopefully retirement will be upon us soon. The sooner the better. We’re hoping to do a lot of traveling when we’re finally done with work. We don’t have a huge bundle of money to splurge on long, luxurious journeys so we are definitely thinking of spreading our money out and traveling on a budget. So, during our recent visit to Portland, Oregon I booked us into the Travelers House Hostel, a low cost accommodation option on Portland’s east side.
